LIONS Academy is an institute we created to educate the next generation of value investors and entrepreneurs. “Applied Value Investing” (named after the same class at CBS) is our flagship offer, which fuses the modern value investing approach championed by Columbia Business School with the unique characteristics of the Chinese market. Value Discovery Day Conference

To further bring back the rich practitioner community experience that we enjoyed in New York City, the LIONS team incubated the idea of “Value Discovery Day,” a semi-annual closed-door investing conference that brings together fund managers, investors, and LPs. The vision is to build the equivalent of the Sohn Investment Conference to promote the practice of value investing and foster a healthy professional community. To this end, as part of the conference secretary committee, LIONS joined forces with our friends at Peiking University’s Value Investing Program and Omnilux Fund (founded by former senior investors at the National Social Security Fund of China).

The first inaugural “Value Discover Day” was held in Beijing in October 2023, and the second was recently held in Xiamen in April 2024.

An individual’s experience is often too narrow a knowledge sphere, too diluted an understanding of the anatomy of past events, and too short a living memory of long cycles. At LIONS, we actively maintain a network of senior advisors and like-minded peers to augment our experience. In addition, we seek to proactively give back by exchanging our thoughts and knowledge with the broader community. Alone we go fast, together with wise people, we go far.

There is wisdom from people who have been there and done it, regardless of age. We formed the LIONS Advisory Board with senior industry executives and investors to anchor us in times of change and turbulence, and to keep us sane and accountable for our standards. Our board members hail from successful founders and investors who have rich business experiences and have navigated through long cycles.  

Peer insights are equally valuable. We regularly host LIONS Peers Roundtable with individuals who share our core values of continuous learning and self-improvement. Members of this forum come from various investment fields and industry domains. Our monthly meeting is a fertile ground for discussions and learning to improve business judgments as a collective. By growing old together, we become wiser together.
